Dr. Anthony Clark is the Chief Technology Officer at Helaina, a New York City-based biotech company pushing the boundaries of what food can do for health. With its immune-nourishing glycoproteins, Helaina is the first company to bring the immunity properties of breast milk to food for all stages of life -- bridging the gap between food and medicine.
In his role, Dr. Clark leads the Innovation and Regulatory & Scientific Affairs teams at Helaina. He brings extensive knowledge of the path to commercialization and regulatory landscape from more than 25 years of experience. Prior he held executive R&D positions at companies including MycoTechnology, PepsiCo, Firmenich, Intrexon, IFF and Chromocell.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Clark has designed, scaled and industrialized several fermentation-derived ingredients for Food and the Flavor and Fragrance industries. He is also an inventor on 50+ international patent applications and the author of 70+ scientific publications.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he earned a Ph.D. from the University of Leeds, and an M.A. from Cambridge, where his research focused on natural product chemistry and fermentation process development.
