Chandrika completed her bachelor's degree majoring in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry with first-class honors at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. After joining as an assistant lecturer in the same department where she studied, she determined to broaden her knowledge through a career transition. Chandrika began her career as a Research & Development executive in the cosmetic industry in Sri Lanka, where she had the opportunity to research bioactive natural compounds for formulating new personal care products. Therefore, her desire to investigate natural bioactive compounds and their unique properties, as well as their industrial applications, has deeply immersed her major interest in the field of food biochemistry. Her current research focuses on bioactive peptides derived from camelina and sophia seed meals, aiming to develop fortified foods, pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements.
