Dr. Carolina Vargas has a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad Industrial de Santander (Colombia) and earned her Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Tulane University. For 7 years, she worked as R&D Innovation Leader for AMCOL International (now Minerals Technologies), where she developed additives and formulations for consumer applications. She joined Stepan in 2014, leading R&D teams in product development and innovation projects for industrial markets including coatings, agriculture, and oilfield. She is now part of Stepan’s Corporate Sustainability team. Her current role focuses on driving the company’s strategic initiatives to reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions and improve feedstocks sustainability profiles.
