Biography:
Dr. Frank Yifan Xu is the head of Analysis and Strain Improvement R&D of dsm-firmenich Columbia Biotech Center in Maryland, USA, where he is leading the analytical, systems biology, omics, automation, HTS and strain improvement departments for biosciences and process innovation. In addition, Frank also serves as the global principal scientist on Multi-Omics and is the project director for Microbiome Digital and Integrative Biology at dsm-firmenich.
Prior to joining dsm-firmenich, Frank was head of Biochemistry at DuPont Nutrition and Biosciences, where he led the multi-disciplinary team of automation, HTS, protein engineering and metabolic engineering. Before that, Frank was the principal investigator at DuPont Central R&D, where he built and led their first metabolomics platform. In his roles at DuPont, Frank contributed to the commercialization of >20 products in the businesses of biofuels, biomaterials, home and personal care, animal nutrition, human health and microbiome.
Frank got his PhD degree in Chemical Biology and Analytical Chemistry at Princeton University, USA. He holds >10 US patents and was the author of >15 scientific papers in top journals including Nature, Nature Biotechnology, Nature Chemical Biology, Molecular Cell and Molecular Systems Biology.
