Winterization

The traditional process of removing of removing wax from oil, especially sunflower is to cool the oil down to about 7°C to form crystals of wax that are then filtered out. The process is very effective but has relatively high losses compared with the centrifugal processes that will be described in the following talk. Winterization is a robust process that can still give a reasonable result even when not operated very well. We will looks at ways the process might be made more efficient with lower losses
