Abstract: Mixed hydrotropy for enhanced solubility and solvency is a recent topic of interest within pharmaceutical applications, mainly when applied to lipophilic drug delivery systems. However, the utility of this approach has needed more discussion when applied to HI&I applications. The study examines mixed hydrotrope formulated systems to ascertain if the combination offers meaningful solubilization or solvency enhancement of lipophilic additives and boosters within the HI&I applications over single hydrotrope options. The study compares formulated laundry systems with the hydrotrope options to examine soil removal efficacy with Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulfonate as the primary surfactant. The hydrotropes considered include Sodium Xylene Sulfonate, Sodium Alkanoates, Alkane Sulfonates, and 2-cyclohexene-1-octanoic acid. This comprehensive study offers valuable insights into how mixed hydrotropy can effectively improve their performance in new HI&I formulations.
