Title: American Cleaning Institute’s Sustainable Feedstocks Initiative and Screening Level LCA Database for Cleaning Product Ingredients
Abstract: The American Cleaning Institute launched an initiative in 2023 to define and drive the use of more sustainable feedstocks in cleaning products and their ingredients throughout the industry. The Sustainable Feedstocks Initiative is aimed at identifying risks and opportunities among common cleaning product feedstocks and ingredients to allow decision making that increases the number of cleaning products on the market that use more sustainable ingredients.

In addition, ACI has developed, with the help of the Anthesis Group, a screening level LCA database for common cleaning product ingredients. This database serves as a comparison tool with a variety of ingredients sourced from various raw materials. In using this database, ACI member companies can see how different ingredients compare in several impact areas including; global warming potential, land use, fossil resource scarcity and water consumption.
