Retinol is a one of the vitamin A, which is critical for many metabolisms and could be oxidized to retinoic acid in vivo. It easily reacts by external environment as follows oxidation, light, heat, moisture. Many technologies have been studied to protect against the oxidation of retinol, which improves the wrinkle as anti-aging material. Cyclodextrins are widely applied in various fields such as food, pharmaceutics, and cosmetics. They are bio-friendly due to origin from starch and could encapsulate the hydrophobic component. Cyclodextrin based metal-organic frameworks (CD MOFs) are formed by cyclodextrin as an organic ligand and potassium ion as an inorganic metal center. They have the diverse properties such as highly porosity, large surface areas, and non-toxicity. Hydrogenated lecithin is a bio-friendly lipid because it is derived from soybeans or sunflower. It is the amphiphilic property and mainly used to form the membrane of liposome. To stabilize the retinol in external environment, the lipid-CD MOFs encapsulated the retinol [L-CD MOF(R)] were synthesized by using cyclodextrin originated from starch and hydrogenated lecithin originated from sunflower in this study. The characters of L-CD MOF(R) were investigated with Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) analyzer, Cryo-transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM), fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), rheometer, and ultraviolet–visible (UV) spectrometer. The stability of L-CD MOF(R) was studied with turbiscan and HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography). This study can be applied for various fields such as drug delivery, food, and cosmetics.
