Newly introduced eco-friendly cleaning products designed for detergency applications have the objective to strike a balance between effectiveness, sustainability, and eco-friendliness. Traditional synthetic polymers used in these detergent solutions excel in performance, but they are not considered to be sustainable. Other green products lack the robust cleaning capabilities of their traditional counterparts.
Addressing this challenge, Italmatch has developed an innovative performance-enhancing low molecular weight biopolymer derived from chicory root plants. Dequest® PB 11625D is a biopolymer, chemically derived from modified inuline, a natural polysaccharide which, stands out as a versatile and biodegradable component, which presents a distinctive property of mild sequestering, anti-scaling, and dispersing properties.
Specifically designed as a co-builder and anti-redisposition agent, Dequest® PB 11625D finds application in automatic dishwasher and laundry detergents. In automatic dishwasher detergents, it effectively prevents filming and spotting. When incorporated into laundry detergents formulations, it prevents fabric incrustation caused by hard water salts. Its dispersing capabilities play a crucial role in inhibiting the redeposition of removed dirt particles onto cleaned dishes or fabrics, enhancing overall cleaning performance. This presentation provides detailed insights of performance tests of carboxymethyl inuline, both in comparison to and in synergy with other chemistries used.
