In oilseeds processing, the seed conditioning stage represents a vital step for optimum oil extraction in downstream processes. Yet this aspect of the operation is also energy-intensive, with steam consumption being the largest utility cost. This presentation will showcase two technologies that can reduce processors' primary energy costs by enhancing efficiency at the conditioning stage while also creating opportunities for energy recovery.
Vertical plate conditioners (VPCs): How recent advancements with indirect heat exchange technology are empowering processors to integrate waste heat recovery systems – thereby leading to a lower dollars per bushel processing cost and higher production value.
Vapour condensers: A detailed overview of the process by which this heat pipe-based technology can recover thermal energy from dirty flue gas streams or air, and convert it into gas, water, etc.
The presentation will also include a discussion on the ROI benefits to integrating heat pumps at the conditioning stage, and its comparison to conventional energy recovery methods.
