A Review of Alkanoate Salts Advantages and Utility in HI&I Formulations

Abstract: Alkanoate salts are a class of chemicals offering excellent additive properties, primarily as sustainable hydrotropes and imparting additional performance enhancement beyond solubilization. This study builds upon previous work and investigates the comparative advantages of these raw materials for cleaning performance in HI&I applications. Characteristics evaluated include surface tension, wetting properties, foam behavior, soil removal, solubilization, and chemical stability in aggressively formulated systems. The material’s technical advantages and limitations for HI&I applications were delineated. Finally, a review of current formulations will illustrate the potential of these materials within HI&I applications.
