Understanding and navigating the lexicon of sustainable protein production is paramount as the global community strives for a unified approach to sustainable protein production. Yet, with this push comes myriad terms and jargon, each carrying nuances and implications. This presentation delves into current research examining the language surrounding sustainability in the agri-food sector. Using data gathered from stakeholders including members of the Farm Foundation and U.S. consumers, attendees will gain insights into how language shapes understanding, influences decision-making, and can either bridge or widen gaps between stakeholder groups. This presentation demystifies the lexicon and offers strategic recommendations for clearer communication, fostering collaborative efforts in the journey toward sustainable agri-food systems.
